ICT
REFLECTIONS
The development and
impact of ICT within the classroom and in today’s society cannot be
overlooked, it is everywhere and our interaction with it affects all areas of
our everyday life. As a learner I would like to describe and reflect on some of
my experiences of ICT.
ICT competency is widely recognised as a core element
to be integrated in education. Through my experience within early years I have
seen the gradual development in this area, with specific training and resources
given to many nursery settings to improve the opportunities for ICT exploration
with the youngest children. However, this ICT initiative to inspire children to
access ICT from a young age relies on the recognition of its importance by the
teachers and staff within the nursery or setting. Children need the opportunity
and time to explore ICT processes in order to build strong foundations within
it.
Therefore my ICT learning took place through my
opportunity and time to explore and try out different technical techniques at
home. Further through the school ICT was used a little more, however apart from
the computer very few other resources were used.
